Chromium oxide
The parent material of chromium oxide is chromite ore. Chromium oxide green (Cr2O3) is largely chemically inert. It is insoluble in water, acids and alkaline solutions. The pigment is stable to heat of up to about 1000°C. Temperatures above this value will lead to particle-size growth and, hence, a shift in tint.
Nordic Color markets a variety of chromium oxide types from Scholz and Lanxess, as listed below:
Types:
- COLORTHERM® Green GN
- COLORTHERM® Green GN-M
- COLORTHERM® Green GN-Z
- COLORTHERM® Green GX
- CHROME OXIDE Green GS
- BAYOXIDE® C GN-B
- CHROME OXIDE Green GN-G
- CHROME OXIDE Green G 2023
- CHROME OXIDE Granulat G 3023
Because of their chemical and technical properties, these pigments are used in a wide range of products.
- For colouring of concrete, plaster, paving stones, flooring, asphalt, etc.
- As a colour pigment in paints and varnishes and plastic
- As corrosion protective coating
